Over four years have passed since Lionel's incident with the artificial star that exploded, and since then Lionel has been extremely cautious and he has been able to maintain his original form constantly. The existence of the Sun-Beast is not common knowledge in the city, and not even everyone who knows of it believes it to be real. The lab Lionel works at has been rebuilt since the explosion destroyed it. Although it would be a lie to say the Sun-Beast didn't have something to do with its destruction back then as well.
Lionel is working hard on an antidote that can rid him of his Sun-Beast. He has been working on it day and night ever since the incident. He also works completely alone nowadays because he prefers it that way. He is afraid of making friends for various reasons. Firstly because he is scared that he might end up hurting them if the Sun-Beast should take control again, and secondly because he fears that people who get too close to him might learn that he is the Sun-Beast and then tell the cops. That is why, as of right now, Lionel is working by himself in the laboratory on something that can return his life to the way it used to be.

Chris North dodges his way through the facility. He's just looking around - he's a chemist, not a physicist. This is all beyond him. But it's still cool stuff to look at. Suddenly, his wonder drops, and he feels it - the hunger. The wanting. The need for a release. He looks around. Too many people. It wouldn't be worth it. Come on man, focus. Taking a deep breath, he returns to his exploration of the lab area.

Lionel decides to take a break. He had been working non-stop ever since he woke up yesterday morning. He walks over to the window and opens it to get some fresh air. Of course he makes sure the sun is currently shining on the opposite side of the building, so there is only shade and a slight breeze where Lionel is. He takes a deep breath and then notices Chris on the other end of the fairly big lab room. "Mr. North, is it?" he starts and walks up to the boy. "How can I help you? Are you looking for anything specific?"

Chris sees the physicist turn to look at him, and he puts on a charming smile, "Nothing, Dr. Zoller. Just looking around is all. I haven't really spent a lot of time looking at your guys' physics labs. You have some interesting stuff going on."

"Some might find it interesting," Lionel replies. "However I feel like most people are just bored to no end by it. And if you ask me, well, I'm mostly just enraged by some of what's in here right now. When you've been working so hard on perfecting something for so long, a job like this loses the fun it used to have and instead start turning into a heavy duty that you feel obligated to finish." He becomes quiet for a moment before looking back at Chris again. "Anyway, enough about that. Haven't you got a class to attend?"

Chris nods in understanding. While he wasn't yet doing his own research, he was aiding some of his professors in their own, "No more classes today. Finished up with my last one about an hour ago. But I can leave if I'm distracting you."

"Oh it's quite alright, Chris," says Lionel. "I've been working here by myself all day. I was just about to take a breather, so you're not bothering me by staying for a while." He walks over to his bag that's resting on one of the chairs in the lab. He takes out a sandwich from the bag that he had prepared at home yesterday morning. It's a bit dry but tastes delicious to Lionel, who hasn't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon. Trying to think of what to say to break the silence he says: "So tell me, how are the studies going for you? Good I hope."

Chris shrugs, "They're going fine. Classes are easy for the most part, though my writing class is a bit of a bitch. How goes your research?"

"Not so well, to be perfectly honest with you," says Lionel. "Or, well, it's going alright. I'm able to make good progress in several areas, but I find myself unable to make any progress in a specific one. I'm almost starting to think it might not even be physically possible."

Vesper was a bit lost in the university, pie in her hand and still warm. She was surprised the pie didn't draw people to her to try and steal it. After that weird run in with that Uther guy, she was pretty glad no one else had talked to her yet. She found herself in a lab, 2 people inside it, quite sure she was in the wrong place. "Excuse me." She was feeling a bit nervous walking in there like that. "Could someome tell me where the admissions office is?"

Lionel notices Vesper entering the lab and walks up to her. "Ah you must be pretty new here I assume. You're quite close to it actually. It's just one more flight of stairs up from here. What's the occasion? If you don't mind me asking." Lionel was doing his best to seem happy and welcoming, but on the inside he was still rather upset about his failure to cure himself. He was feeling sad and insufficient.

Chris shrugs, "I'll leave you two to that. Nice talking, Dr. Zoller," he starts to walk away and stops, back pedaling, "You gonna eat that?"

"Oh. I planned on it" She felt a bit sad again, probably from remembering why she got the pie in the first place. "you guys can have a slice if you'd like. And thank you Mr...." She wasn't sure who these people were, now that she thought about it

"Oh I'm sorry," Lionel starts. "I'm Dr. Zoller. I do research here at the lab and I hold classes in physics a few times a week." He takes another bite from his dry sandwich. "And no thank you, this sandwich is all I need. Anyway, what's your name? Might be good for me to know in case I'll be teaching you soon."

Chris leans over and removes a slice, "Thank you ma'am," he gives her a curt nod, and walks away, taking a bite.

She nods at the boy who took a slice, though still feeling that unexplained sadness she had been feeling again since she got in this lab. She sat down across from the Dr. and took her own slice of the pie to eat. 'Umm. Vesper." She replied. "Vesper Woods." She was lying about her surname, though her parents were artists, and they had a little bit of fame so It would be best not to use her real name just in case they were searching for her. She took another bite of pie, feeling a bit better. "What are you researching? And go on. Take a slice. That sandwich looks a little... Uh, depressing?" it was a sad, dry little thing he had there. At least the pie was still warm.

"Well, if you insist," says Lionel with a smile. He puts his sandwich aside and grabs a piece of the pie. "Mmm delicious. Thank you, Vesper. So, what I research... well, what I've been working on the longest is ways to produce unlimited energy for everyone. For several years I was working on creating an artificial star but that didn't really work out... or well that project got cancelled. Probably for the better too I recon. Since then I've been trying to find safer ways of producing an endless amount of energy. Of course I do other things too..." Lionel noticed now how he was rambling on. For some reason he felt unusually safe talking to this girl.

"That actually sounds really cool. My mother..." But she stopped herself there. for a moment, trying to choose her words carefully. She coughed a little as if she had a piece of pie stuck in her throat. "My mother was looking into that too. She wanted to know how Sun Forger made hers." Yeah. That would work out pretty well. Slowly, she was feeling calmer and safer here in Dr. Zoller's lab.

"Ah, the Sun Forger. I've read a good deal about her and what she's done." This was very true, but Lionel did feel a sense of jealousy towards her. He saw clear similarities between himself and her, yet she was able to use her abilities to her advantage. But more importantly, she could control her own abilities. For some reason Lionel felt like bringing up something he had never brought up in conversation with anyone before, but he thought it made sense while they were on the topic of Sun Forger. "Uhm," he starts, "speaking of Sun Forger, did you ever hear any of the silly rumors about a flaming monster that rampaged in our city almost four years ago? A lot of people seem to believe it, though it seems like just as many think it's just an urban legend. Personally I'm not entirely sure what to think. Back when it was news I heard different people connect it to Sun Forger in various ways. But honestly, even if it was real, I doubt it would have anything to do with her..."

"Oh. No I didn't. But you're right. That doesn't sound like something she could do." She had only been in Avalon Falls for a few months, and before that she had lived in Florida with her parents. She never heard any stories of Avalon Falls before. She mostly payed attention to stories about her parents fighting, hoping they wouldn't hurt each other too much. "Do you ever think that those people, the ones with powers, ever want to live a normal life? One without them?"
